The National Park Service has announced that the use of drones for photography has been banned in Yosemite National Park. Claiming that drones can disturb and frighten wildlife as well as impede rescue attempts, the NPS says that “those lazy photogs will have to get off their butts and hike just like everyone else.”
The new regulation (Thirty Six CFR 2.17(a)(3) in the Code of Federal Regulations, for those keeping score at home) permits the use of drones “in emergencies involving public safety,” meaning that the use of drones for the execution of people at remote distances and without due process can, apparently, continue unabated.
